| | Natalie Caubere, Independent Agent, says: | Set at the edge of a quiet village in front of the old public washing well, with lovely views over the countryside, this house in need of modernisation is deceptively big and has a lot of potential. Viewing essential to appreciate its true “good feel factor”!!
| It comprises of an entrance hall, lounge, bedroom, kitchen with fireplace, utility room, shower room, wc on the ground floor and on the second floor (2 staircases), a 30m² room to renovate with 2 windows and a French-window, 2 additional bedrooms and a bathroom. All rooms have parquet floors and are very bright and airy. The detached stone barn (about 70m²) with fireplace is currently divided in 2 parts and could be renovated into further accommodation either for letting or for friends and family. Up until very recently, the house was let out, and now that the lease has expired, the retired owners have decided to sell their property. The village has an excellent baker, a small general grocer, and post office - a mobile butcher and fishmonger come once or twice a week depending on the season. The villagers are very friendly and welcoming and regular events are organised for everyone to get together and feel part of the community. St Pardoux, a charming medieval little town a few kms away, has more shops and restaurants as well as doctors/dentists and schools. Limoges airport, with its daily low-cost flights to/from the UK is only 50 minutes away and Angoulême, with its TGV station abour 1 hour, TGV which takes you into Paris in 2 hours or Bordeaux in just 1 hour.
The Périgord, former province now known as the Dordogne, is a beautiful department of South-West France, blessed with a variety of landscapes, a land of castles, bastides towns and villages dating back to the middle ages, its caves and troglodyte sites, where truffles, duck and foie gras are part of a special way of life, a must to visit. It has preserved its history as well as moving with the times, restoring and developing old quarters of Périgueux, capital city, and Bergerac into pedestrian areas. The Périgord Vert is a paradise for those who love the countryside, teeming with wildlife such as wild boar, deer and trout, and is ideal for those seeking a tranquil way of life in a truly French rural setting. A land of fantastic architecture, character and French charm!!!
