| What can one say about Brantôme...the Venice of the Dordogne. 10 minutes from this property, not just is it a beautiful and not over-exposed tourist town, centred around the Abbey and river Dronne, but it hums with modern life, but not trashy. Subdued supermarkets are tucked away, all tastes are catered for in the restaurants and concerts and art exhibitions happen within the old Abbey buildings. This river is a main artery for tourist towns: St Jean de Cole,(a tributary), Brantome, Bordeilles, Lisle, Riberac and Aubeterre. All are drawcards, for residents and tourists, with sites, restaurants and excellent examples of French life. The larger equally fascinating town of Perigueux is a further 15 minutes down the road, and that really does have real supermarkets and shops from smart to odd! The airports of Bergerac, Bordeaux, Limoges and Poitiers are easily accessible from this property. Also the TGV trains to Paris, Lille and London leave from the town of Angoulême Angoulême airport will be doing European fights soon, probably in spring 2008.
